We met up with a friend at Sammy’s Fish Box on City Island – City Island is just off the mainland of the Bronx and is an oasis from the craziness of the borough. If you’re in the area on a nice day, it’s worth a drive out to walk around the quaint little town and enjoy some great ocean views.
As the name implies, Sammy’s Fish Box specializes in seafood, although there are other options available if you aren’t a fan of fish. The food is, simply, excellent and plentiful. This is a family, seaside restaurant, so there’s a variety of clientele. I enjoyed baked scallops with linguine (the seasoning on the scallops was excellent), my husband and our friend enjoyed other fish dishes. The cocktails were delicious as well.
The bathroom is a little small for wheelchair access although it is manageable, and parking is available onsite or across the street.
